What is a work permit – and which one do you need?

What does a work permit actually mean and who needs it? A work permit is a permit, that a person who does not have a citizenship in Sweden, needs to work here. The main rule is that you must apply for and have your permit ready before employees enter Sweden. You can also apply for a work permit from within Sweden under certain conditions.

For most people, this means applying for a “regular” work permit that can be applied for and extended for your employee and their family. There are also a number of options that, depending on needs and circumstances, can be at least as relevant for your employee.
